Everest Gokyo Lake Trek

 

Tranquil hamlet situated on the shores of turquoise blue lake is everybody’s dream destination. Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking endows exactly the same atmosphere. On the bank of Gokyo Lake (Dudhpokhari) at the foothill of Gokyo Ri adjacent to Renjola Pass and on the junction of Chola Pass the great tranquil valley of Gokyo remains magnificently. This is the most scenic and romantic destination of entire Khumbu trekking in Nepal. There are no words to describe the scenic beauty of this place. If you want best view of Everest including its Tibetan section and also if you want a fairyland experience then this would be an ideal choice.

Take a trail similar to Everest Base Camp Trekking until Namche Bazaar. From Lukla to Namche acclimatization the activities are similar to all Everest region trekking. Once trekkers trek via Kyangjuma the trail takes left turn leaving the Tengboche trail towards Machhermo. The view of Amadablam and Cholatse as well as Tabuche is usual until trekkers reach Dole. From Dole onwards distant view of Choyou Mountain and close view of Cholatse acts as traveling companion. The green lush forest of rhododendron starts to disappear as trekkers trek upwards. Among six official and other numerous lakes involved in Gokyo Lake System the first lake appears after crossing beautiful bridge over Dudhkoshi River. Following the second lake the final destination appears on the shores of third Gokyo Lake. Trekkers enjoy the sunset or sunrise from Gokyo Ri. The majestic view of mountains like Choyou, Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku and others glowing on sun rays absolutely hypnotize trekkers. Taking the same route trekkers return back to Lukla for flight to Kathmandu. Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking is also one of the most comfortable trekking routes of Everest region.

Day 01: arrival kathmandu Arrival Kathmandu , transfer to hotel
Day 02: sight-seeing of Kathmandu Leave for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to hotel and stay.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Phakding via Lukla flight

After having a 35 minuates scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla continue trek to Phakding, which takes approximately 3 hours on the way you will have a view of mt Nupla( 5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and mount kongde range. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m).

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail pases a waterfall. Ass day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded a view of tantalizing glimpse of Kusum Kanggru ( 6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest ( 8848m) Nuptse ( 7879 m) staying at Namche bazaar (3440m).
Day 05: Namche Rest

Acclimatization day at Namche Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. You can set off on a short day hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.

Day 06: Namche bazaar to Phortse Thanga

Leave Namche along the direction of the gompa adn turn right afater the large rocks engraved with Buddhist images.The trek climbs the hill to Khumjung and descends to the valley of Dudhkoshi and arrives at Phortse Thanga (3,500m) which offers supreb views of Thamserku(6,608m), Kangtewa

Day 07: Phortse Thanga to Machermo This will be another short day trek to aid acclimatization to the altitude.The path goes through the middle of forest and offers the first view of Cho you peak (8,153m), working , through rhododendron forest and juniper and large conifers appear as the elevation increases making the trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through kharkas and summer settlements to Dole after thatWe wil work across a rocky terrain scattered with a few dwarf rhododendrons. staying overnight at Machermo at (4,410m)
Day 08: Machermo Gokyo Lakes The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. A few lakes appear on the trail and finally reach to Gokyo (4,750m), which is a collection of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of large lake. The mountain views in the Gokyo region are spectacular. A two-hour climbing on Gokyo Ri (5350m), the small peak above the lake provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, cholatse and Tawache
Day 09: Gokyo Lake explore around The excurtion to the Gokyo peak usually starts early in the morning. The climb is quite steep first 30 minutes, it will take you an hour to reach the top with its traditional prayer flags. From where you will have a magnificent view of highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu, On the way to descent you can enjoy, superb view of Gokyo Lake..
Day 10: Gokyo lake to Dole Trek back to Dole
Day 11: Dole to Khumjung After breakfast we will work to Khumjung, Khumjung is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpas’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.
Day 12: Khumjung to Lukla
Day 13: Flight from Lukla - KTM

Flight from Lukla - KTM, transfer to hotel.you can enjoy your free day in Kathmandu  do shoping and participation to the cultural farewell dinner program at Nepali typical traditional Nepali resturant with cultural program 

Day 14: Final Departure
