Tamang Heritage trek With Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu starts as usual with bus drive from Kathmandu to Syaprubeshi. The walking in the trail from the Syaprubeshi takes you to the beautiful villages of mostly tamang origin of people. Gatlang, Tatopani, Briddan and Thuman offer the unique hospitality and showcase the traditional lifestyle of their community. This tribal community’s festivals, livelihood and the culture can be authentically experienced by staying in their homes or in lodges operated by these people. Once you have spent time with these people you will trek towards Lama Hotel and follow the same route of the Langtang Valley Trek. The trekking towards Kyanjin Gompa passing by the village of Ghoda Tabela, Langtang Valley and Mumdu along with the short hiking of Kyanjin Ri will take place. The astounding panoramic views of the mountains like Langtang, Lirung, Tsergo ri, Langtang glacier etc. could be breathtaking. The route then returns back to Lama Hotel and passing by the Thulo Syapru and Lauribianayak trekkers will reach the holy lake Gosainkunda. This lake has significant history and religious importance attached to it. Closely associated with Lord Shiva of Hinduism religion is equally respected by the Buddhists of the region. Especially during the Janaipurnima festival the lake looks outstanding. Once you have captured the magnificent view of the lake as well as the surrounding landscape the trek follows towards the Helambu region. This region is famous for the green lush forests, water resources and Tamang people villages. The trail along the jungle could be mesmerizing walk on the woods listening to the birds and rivers. From the Melamchi or Sermathang the bus drive will take you back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

takes about eight hours. You drive through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to reach Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. Stay overnight at lodge.

via Goljung takes about six hours. This day you walk through the village. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking a memorable one. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang. Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about three hours. On the way you enjoy sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. At Tatopani, you can take hot bath in natural hot. It is believed that taking a dip into this spring can heal you from your aches and pains.  Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about five hours. You trek via Bimthang. The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges can be distinctly visible from Nagthali. Stay overnight at lodge.

via Lingling takes about seven hours. You can observe the village life of Briddim. You can also enjoy cultural show performed by community members.  Briddim is a Tibetan Buddhist village located in the bosom of Langtang Himal. Around 43 houses are spread in Z shape. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of splitshake. Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about six hours. You walk through Briddim village while observing the local lifestyle and culture and interacting with the locals. You will notice that the settlement of Lama Hotel is located on the banks of Langtang River and surrounded by lush forests and mountains. Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about three hours. This day you can see the glaciated valley of Kyangjin on the lap of Langtang Lirung and surrounded by snowy mountains. Stay overnight at lodge.
Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa and excursion in and around. This is day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. takes about six hours. From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight at lodge.
takes about six and half hours. You continue retracing your steps some of the way to Thulo Syabru, but then take a steep path through forest. An undulating path brings you to this fascinating village where each house is set above its neighbor, in a long line up. Stay overnight at lodge.
takes about five hours. From Thulo Syabru it is a steep climb through forests of oak, fir and rhododendron to the top of a ridge. From here it is only a short descent to Sing Gompa. Stay overnight at lodge.
takes about five and half hours. You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west lie Himal Chuli (7893m.,) Manaslu (8156m,) and Ganesh Himal (7406m.) On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pastures of Laurebina, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikund, Bharab Kunda and Gosainkunda. Stay overnight at lodge.
The trail leaves Gosainkund and climbs through rugged country, past four more small lakes to the Laurebina La [4610m], the highest point of this trek. Keep looking back for spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the now familiar Langtang Lirung. You then descend steeply to camp near Gopte. Stay overnight at lodge.
The first part of the trails slightly descends and then begins to ascend through rhododendron forests until Thearepati and then your hike gets into a descending mode. Before climbing to Tharepati, you cross a stream after coming through rhododendron, oak and juniper forests. From Tharepati the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Melamchi Gaon is surrounded by beautiful forests, which are mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their distinctive culture. You will also find some Buddhist monasteries around here. takes about three hours. The early part of the trek descends until you cross the stream named as Melamchi. Now you trek gently up to Tarkeghyang passing through Sherpa settlements. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries. Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about five hours. This day the trail gets quite easier through flat land with beautiful forests on the way. You trek on crossing some small streams on the way. There is also a beautiful village on the half way to Shermathang. To add to your joy, Shermathang is another pretty Sherpa village where you can visit several ancient monasteries. From here you can see Jugal Himal range from the north face of Shermathang village. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846m.). The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, you come across several old villages with their own particular traditions. Stay overnight at lodge.

takes about five hours. You travel through a gravel and bumpy path up to Zero Kilo and then you culminate onto a pitched road up to Kathmandu. This trek will give you memories that will last for a lifetime.
