Overview

Do you want to experience a little off-the-beaten-path trekking in Nepal, the popular Annapurna region? Are you tired of hustling and bustling city life and want to spend a few couple of days in an isolated area? If your answer is ‘Yes’, then the Khopra Danda trek is the right choice! It is one of the most popular Nepal trekking located close to the lake city of Pokhara.

During this trek, you will have an opportunity to go across some Gurung and Magar villages. The slate-roofed houses having clean surroundings are the most remarkable features of these hamlets. Moreover, the males of these villages have served in the British, Indian, and Nepalese Armies. Therefore, they are also known as the Villages of Gurkhas as well. The rugged path goes along the rhododendron, oak, and bamboo forests inhabited by many bird species.

The trekking moves through uphill and downhill tracks along the wonderful landscapes. You have the most amazing view of the snowy peaks of the Annapurna (8,091 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) Massifs. Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Tukuche Peak, Mt. Nilgiri, and Mt. Gangapurna are other snow-capped peaks.

The trek formally begins from Ghandruk, an important stopover for the Annapurna Sunrise View Trek. Then, it gradually moves along to other rustic villages. The typical food items and simple-mindedness of the friendly people make your journey more memorable.

Trekking Routes and Price

The top destination of this remote trekking is Khopra Danda, which is a vantage point in itself. You can have a beautiful sunrise view of all the snow-covered peaks of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna regions from the top. The highest place to reach during this short trek in Nepal is Khayer Lake (4,560 m). Thousands of Hindu pilgrims throng to the lake during July to pay homage to Lord Shiva.

You can do this trek throughout the year as the highest elevation to reach is just 4,560 m. However, the best season for Khopra Danda Trek is spring as you can see the forests embellished by colorful rhododendron flowers. Likewise, you can visit this region in autumn for the splendid vistas of silvery mountains.

Trekking to Khopra Danda Khayar Lake can be customized from 5 days to 18 days. The tailor-made Nepal Trekking packages for this trek are the Mardi Himal Trek, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, etc. For more details, you can contact Nepal Trekking Routes via the available media.
