Overview

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return is a wonderful trip to the lap of the world's highest peak. This trip begins after a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, also known as the Tenzing Hillary Airport.

EBC Trek with Heli Return moves along the traditional Everest Base Camp Trek Route. You will enjoy the Great Himalayas like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Pumori, and many more.

The journey moves along the Sherpa Villages beginning from Lukla to Kalapatthar across Gorakshep. These villages reflect a true flavor of the Tibetan Buddhist culture, tradition, lifestyle, and shrines.

Biodiversity of Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site makes your Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return more memorable.

You cannot see the Everest Summit from Everest Base Camp (5,364m) because the soaring peaks hide it behind. However, you will have the closest views of the snowcapped peaks of the Everest Region from Kalapatthar.

You have a few options while trekking to Everest Base Camp with Helicopter Return. You can fly back to the Kathmandu Airport after refueling at the Lukla Airport.

Or, you can begin Everest Helicopter Tour Return from Periche, Dingboche, Tengboche, Namche Bazar, and other stopovers as well.

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Key Information

To make your Everest Dream come true, you have a couple of choices. You can do Everest Base Camp Trek in about two weeks. Next, you can do Everest Helicopter Tour with landing and EBC Heli Tour without landing as well. Alternatively, you can also combine Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter ride over Everest.

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return offers you a mixed experience of trekking and flight over Everest Region.  You begin this trip by flying to Lukla from the Kathmandu Airport and then trekking up to EBC (5,364m).

After relishing the closest view of the Giant Mountains from Kalapatthar (5,555m), you can fly back to Kathmandu from there.  Otherwise, you trek down up to Gorakshep and experience a helicopter ride to the Kathmandu Airport.

You can use a Helicopter ride shared in a group to return in about one hour to Kathmandu. Or else, you can also do a single chopper to return after Everest Base Camp Trek.

Why Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return?

Following the regular EBC Trek route, you move along the Sagarmatha National Park. The park is one of the ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal. Many alpine birds and animals play hide and seek with you in the fir, birch, juniper, and rhododendron forest.

The Khumbu Region is the largest Sherpa settlement area of Nepal. You will have some good memories of the Sherpa culture and tradition in the stopovers. If you make Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return between October and November, you will observe Mani Rimdu Festival.

To observe Dumje Festival, we recommend you to book this trek in Nepal,in the last week of May or the first week of June. Both the festivals are celebrated in the monasteries such as Tengboche Monastery, Panboche, Monastery, Khumjung Monastery, etc.

For the ones having limited time in Nepal but want to fulfill their Everest Dream, we recommend EBC Trek with Heli Return.

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Difficulties

As you return by a helicopter, you needn’t worry about the EBC Trek with Helicopter Return difficulties in return journey.

While going upwards, geographical variation can be a difficulty as the elevation rises gradually higher than 2,860m. To avoid this challenge, there is at least an acclimatization day in Namche Bazar.

Sometimes, you may get altitude sickness during the ascent. A local tour operator provides you with a highly professional trekking guide. He/She has a complete knowledge about the weather condition, the first aid box, and methods to beat this difficulty.

Weather is one of the most usual difficulties of Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return. You cannot predict the weather condition, so you’d better keep 2/3 days extra if the weather condition is not supportive.

It offers an opportunity to explore the stunning Khumbu region, including iconic landmarks like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and of course, Everest Base Camp. The helicopter return allows for a faster and more convenient way to return from the base camp, providing an aerial view of the Himalayas and saving time compared to trekking back on foot.

The duration of the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return typically ranges from 9 to 12 days, depending on the specific itinerary and the pace of the trek. This includes both the trekking portion to Everest Base Camp and the helicopter return back to Kathmandu or Lukla.

These seasons provide excellent visibility for mountain views and a comfortable trekking experience.

Previous trekking experience is not strictly required for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return, but it is highly recommended. The trek involves challenging terrain, high altitudes, and long hours of walking. Having prior trekking experience helps with physical fitness, endurance, and familiarity with the demands of multi-day treks. Yes, it is possible to acclimatize properly during the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return. The trek itinerary is designed to allow for gradual ascent and proper acclimatization. It includes rest days and gradual altitude gains to give the body time to adjust to the higher elevations. Additionally, the helicopter return provides an opportunity for a quicker descent to lower altitudes, which can further aid in acclimatization and reduce the risk of altitude-related illnesses. However, it is still important to follow a sensible pace, stay hydrated, and listen to your body’s signals during the trek to ensure proper acclimatization.

Yes, permits are required for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return. The two main permits needed are the Sagarmatha National Park Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card.
